Gavin Brett completed a Mechanical Engineering degree with Honours at RMIT University. He worked at General Motors for six years specializing in engine calibration and testing for the V8 Commodore passenger car. He then took up an engineering position at Aerosonde Ltd (now Textron Systems Australia) and developed a fuel injection system, which is still in use today. He was later promoted to Chief Engineer.
In 2005 Gavin began his own company, Currawong Engineering, designing and manufacturing parts for a camera gimbal. Over time the company has grown to 13 employees and manufactures the Corvid range of UAV fuel injected engine systems and electronic speed controllers. The company has a strong focus on innovation and is currently working on a hybrid powertrain system as well expanding its range of engines and ESCs. Currawong operates from a factory 10 minutes south of Hobart, the capital of Tasmania, Australia. Outside of work Gavin enjoys time in the bush - mountain bike riding, bushwalking and caving.
