Kurt Rouser

Dr. Kurt Rouser is Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Oklahoma State University (OSU). He holds a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from the US Air Force Academy, an M.S. in Aviation Science from OSU and an M.S. in Aeronautical Engineering and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology. His engineering masters thesis addressed suppression of boundary layer separation on low-pressure turbines, and his dissertation dealt with the performance of pulsed-detonation driven turbines. During 21 years in the Air Force, he served as an Aerospace Propulsion Intelligence Analyst, a Turbine Engine Maintenance Engineer, a KC-135 tanker aircraft Maintenance Engineer and an Operations Officer for a jet engine test squadron. He served eight years on Air Force Academy faculty in the Aeronautics Department and as Deputy Associate Dean for Educational Innovation. He received the Academy’s most prestigious teaching award, the Outstanding Academy Educator, and the Academy’s highest research award, the Frank J. Seiler Award for Faculty Research Excellence. He retired from the Air Force in 2016 and transitioned into his current position at OSU, teaching and researching aerospace propulsion and power.
