Ryan is a Special Operations and Training Battalion Chief with the Orem Fire Department. He has been an FAA licensed pilot for 23 years. He has 17 years of remote control helicopter, airplane, jet and drone experience. He is a Program Manager for the Utah Fire & Rescue Academy, with responsibility for curriculum development and management of the Unmanned Aerial Systems and Hazardous Materials Technician programs. He developed several courses for and managed the Command Training Center prior to his current position.
Ryan has presented at FDIC and will be returning to Fire Rescue International again in 2018 as a presenter on Unmanned Aerial Systems. He recently presented a UAS webinar for Fire Apparatus magazine. Ryan has assisted several public safety organizations in the United States on UAS program development and platform purchasing.
Ryan currently serves as the Chair of the NFPA Technical Committee on Unmanned Aerial Systems. He is also a member of the ASTM/NFPA Joint Working Group on unmanned aerial systems.
