Profile

Aaron O'Toole was born in Kingston, Tennessee in 1984. He received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2008 and M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2010 from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee. While in school, he aided in the development of a mobile robotic welding system that utilized magnetic tracks to traverse ferrous structures. His research helped begin the TTU spinoff company called Robotic Technologies of Tennessee, LLC. After school he began work at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division where he conducts research and development for the next generation of EOD robots. Topics of interest include: robotic perception, autonomous manipulation, autonomous navigation, and modeling and simulation of mobile manipulators in rugged terrain.
