Autonomous Impact Protection Vehicle (AIPV)
Highway workers are routinely placed in high-risk situations. However, these workers are at especially high risk when assigned the dangerous job of driving an Impact Protection Vehicle (IPV). An IPV follows behind slow moving highway maintenance vehicles as human-driven mobile crash barriers absorbing the impact of traffic accidently entering the work zone. To eliminate this dangerous assignment, Kratos Defense developed the Autonomous IPV (AIPV) in partnership with Royal Truck & Equipment retrofitting the IPV with driverless technology enabling unmanned operation in a Leader-Follower configuration with the maintenance vehicle. The static display shows how the system enables the maintenance vehicle (Leader) to transmit navigation data via encrypted V2V link to the unmanned AIPV (Follower) which uses the data to follow behind the Leader as it travels along the road. www.kratosdefense.com
Flexible Robotic Platform – Light
The autonomous system will be operated via tele-op for the purposes of the indoor demo. PME will demonstrate the platform’s agility through exercising the 4-wheel steering and responsive suspension, while highlighting the off-road mobility on uneven and rough surfaces. www.prattmiller.com
Paralift™ is an automated wheelchair loading and securement system providing individuals with reduced mobility vehicle ingress/egress. The Paralift™ demonstration at XPONENTIAL begins by having a wheelchair bound passenger approach the vehicle and lift area. The vehicle’s door will open and the wheelchair ramp will automatically lower as the rider approaches. The rider is given audible commands to board the ramp and position the wheelchair on the platform. Once the passenger is positioned, the ramp raises to the vehicle’s floor level and the passenger easily boards the vehicle. The passenger is then given audible commands to position the wheelchair next to the automated securement system. The securement system will positively engage the wheels of the chair. At the end of the demonstration, the passenger will exit the vehicle utilizing the automated lift. www.roboticresearch.com
