  • Along with these we supply motors to drive your systems and resolvers to support rugged airborne position feedback.

    Moog’s slip rings and twist capsules are used extensively in airborne EO systems.  We provide slip rings and twist caps for complex mil/aero application where video, lasers, and other high bandwidth applications need support. These programs include programs like the latest upgrade to the F-18 Hornet’s EO sensor suite, Advanced Targeting Forward Looking Infrared (ATFLIR). We also support Multi-Spectral Targeting System (MTS) used on a variety of military airborne platforms. This background gives us the experience and know how to support all levels of airborne applications from simpler small systems requiring only a few electrical data paths in an inexpensive ruggedized package to designs incorporating fiber optic rotary joints for a large data path and future proofing design.  Our advanced R&D work has provided us an array of tools to apply for airborne data transfer across rotating interfaces.    

    Our motor and resolver designs are centered around efficiency and torque density.  We offer the best SWAP trades in the industry allowing you to keep the power and weight of your system as small as possible.  Our motors can drive actuation systems, rotating sensor systems, and act as your propeller or propulsion drives.  Our resolvers can be as small as 1-2 inch, provide arc second level accuracies and are ruggedized for difficult environments including airborne and sea.

    Moog’s AC7332 rotary gimbal stage is designed to support most payloads without the need for an external bearing system, thus reducing set-up time, minimizing system space and weight, simplifying the installation process....

  • Moog has taken their expertise in high performance motion control components and elevated it in offering assemblies that combine many components into an integrated assembly. The single-axis gimbal stage combines our matrix DC brushless direct drive motor and slip ring solutions with encoder, precision bearings and structure. Moog’s gimbal stage is designed to support most payloads without the need for an external bearing system, thus reducing set-up time, minimizing system space and weight, simplifying the installation process. Install the rotary gimbal stage to your payload, connect your servo-amplifier and source power, tune the stage per the instructions provided with your servo-amplifier and operate. Moog can recommend a source for servo-amplifiers or provide an external enclosure with the servo amplifier as an option.

    The gimbal stage’s physical configuration includes a bore. This allows for the installation of either a RF rotary joint, fiber optic rotary joint, optics pass, air channel or other device for operation in various systems. Also the bore allows Moog to upgrade a fielded gimbal stage to pass multiple high speed data channels as dictated by future system requirements without major redesign. For example, Moog can install a fiber optic rotary joint in the bore and provide data converters, media converters and / or multiplexers as a complete solution. This allows for easy and inexpensive upgrades, thus minimizing life cycle costs.

    This gimbal stage is designed to be customized for unique applications without requiring major development expense. Moog has systems and components engineers in place to support your needs.
