  • There are several ways to configure Delta Digital Video’s video encoders to ensure good quality video is delivered even for severely constrained datalinks. These settings alone, or in combination, allow the user to tune the video performance for bit rates as low as 128Kbps.

      • • Scaling / Cropping: reducing the number of processed pixels can significantly reduce the required bandwidth. Cropping can concentrate the video compression on a region of interest, providing high quality for the desired portion of the imagery.

      • • Frame Rate Decimation: Skipping video frames is another method to reduce processing and required bandwidth. Encoding a lower number of frames allows for higher quality video, particularly beneficial for static imagery or “Dwell” modes.

      • • GOP (Group of Pictures) Size: Increasing the number of predicted frames (P-frames) between Intra-coded frames (I-frames) will also reduce the required bandwidth. This setting is typically used in conjunction with scaling, cropping, and/or frame decimation to enhance video quality in low bit rate applications.

    The compact, rugged Model 4480E H.264 HD/SD Video Encoder is a network appliance designed to compress High Definition (HD) and Standard Definition (SD) video (HD/SD-SDI, HDMI, RGBHV, RGsB, NTSC, PAL) for transmission over IP networks.   • General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) contracts with Delta Digital Video for delivery of rugged airborne video encoders in support of continued production for the MQ-9 Reaper and MQ-1C Gray Eagle Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) avionics, datalinks and software.

    GA-ASI’s remotely piloted MQ-1C Gray Eagle is part of the growing fleet of UAV systems that are being fielded by the U.S. Army. The Gray Eagle addresses the need for a long-endurance, armed, unmanned aircraft system that offers greater range, altitude and payload flexibility over earlier systems.   • Lockheed Martin has approved full rate production for Delta Digital Video to deliver multiple Model VSC/900 Universal Video Format Converters for use in the electronic Consolidated Automated Support System (eCASS) program.

    eCASS is the workhorse for avionics repair across the Naval Aviation Enterprise. The system can support more than 750 avionics components as well as a range of electronic equipment on carriers, other maritime craft or at shore to reduce the amount of gear needed for deployments. Through automated testing at sea and ashore, maintainers are able to handle a larger workload with less equipment to quickly and efficiently ensure aircraft avionics are mission ready.

    The Model VSC/900 Universal Video Format Converter is capable of converting any input to any output format up to 1920 x 1200. In addition to operating with VESA, and HD/SD-SDI signals, the unit provides conversion and mixing of stroke (vector) video signals. The Model VSC/900 includes a mixer/keyer for combining computer graphics and video. Additionally, a video encoder can be included to provide video-over-IP functionality. This is an H.264 AVC encoder providing an MPEG-2 compliant transport stream over a fully configurable IP network.

    The 7840R is capable of simultaneously encoding four channels of video with resolutions up to 1080p.     Designed for any rugged airborne, ground-mobile, or shipboard application, the 7840R is compliant with the full motion video standards developed by the US Government’s Motion Imagery Standards Board (MISB). This includes compliance with the video compression, KLV metadata, and transport stream profiles required to ensure interoperability in US and Allied processing, dissemination, and exploitation (PED) systems. Full MIL-STD-810 environmental and MIL-STD-461/DO-160 EMI qualification ensures the 7840R meets project requirements.

    Utilizing H.265/HEVC encoding, the 7805R provides flexibility for optimizing video performance for any given bit rate. The H.265 algorithm is proven to provide 50% more bandwidth efficiency than H.264/AVC. User-configurable parameters permit the user to adjust the video/audio/data parameters in accordance with mission requirements.

    The 7805R is built around an advanced, high-speed, multi-media processor working with fully optimized codecs. Despite the high-performance, the encoder power comes in at just under 10 Watts. Delta’s technology has been integrated, tested, and operated in numerous airborne, ground, and shipboard applications and is compatible with MISB and STANAG standards. The 7805R can be easily integrated with standards-compliant processing, dissemination, and exploitation (PED) systems.

    The unit has a fully-configurable network interface for transport stream transmission making it a “drop-in” for digital datalink applications.     Model 6805R H.264 HD/SD Video Encoder provides for the transmission of full-motion video for ISR applications. Primarily designed for small aircraft, the 6805R is a rugged, compact unit with all the features of Delta’s JITC certified video encoder products. These include, standards-compliant video compression, KLV metadata processing, and transport stream multiplexing.

    Utilizing H.264 (MPEG-4 AVC) encoding, the 6805R provides flexibility for optimizing video performance for any given bit rate. User-configurable parameters permit the user to adjust the video/audio/data features in accordance with mission requirements.

    The 6805R is built around an advanced, high-speed, multi-media processor working with a fully optimized codec. Delta’s technology has been integrated, tested, and flown in numerous applications with various airborne platforms and is compatible with MISB and STANAG standards. It is compatible with other Delta products and can be easily integrated with standards-compliant processing, dissemination, and exploitation (PED) systems.

    The unit has a fully-configurable network interface for transport stream transmission making it a “drop-in” for digital datalink applications. The 6805R is easily configured via Ethernet (web GUI or Telnet) or serial connection.
