SimActive is the developer of Correlator3D™ software, a patented end-to-end photogrammetry solution for the generation of high-quality geospatial data from satellite and aerial imagery, including drones. Correlator3D™ performs aerial triangulation (AT) and produces dense digital surface models (DSM), digital terrain models (DTM), point clouds, orthomosaics, 3D models and vectorized 3D features. Powered by GPU technology and multi-core CPUs, Correlator3D™ ensures matchless processing speed to support rapid production of large datasets. For more information, visit www.simactive.com.

Brands: Photogrammetry software for the generation of high-quality geospatial data from imagery

 Press Releases

  • SimActive announces that its Correlator3D™ product is being used by Texas-based company Dawson Geophysical for oil and gas seismic exploration. Orthomosaics and elevation models are generated from aerial imagery to aid in planning of seismic surveys.

Dawson uses a medium format camera from Phase One to fly over areas of between 20 and 200+ square miles. The collected images are then processed by SimActive software to derive highly accurate geospatial data and identify points of interest.  Finally, mappers use the imagery to spot hazards and plan routes in advance.
“SimActive’s software allows our company to survey hundreds of square miles at a much faster pace”, said Christopher Lindsey, Technical Services Manager at Dawson Geophysical.  “This enables us to be more accurate, time-efficient out in the field, and to produce map products that our whole company can use.”
    About Dawson
Dawson Geophysical Company is a leading provider of North American onshore seismic data acquisition services with operations throughout the continental United States and Canada. Dawson acquires and processes 2-D, 3-D and multi-component seismic data solely for its clients, ranging from major oil and gas companies to independent oil and gas operators, as well as providers of multi-client data libraries.
  • SimActive Inc. announces the release of Correlator3D version 8.5. The new version allows users to share and visualize projects in the cloud. It also features new tools for the calibration and processing of multispectral imagery.

Specifically, results can be exported to the cloud directly from the software interface, and shareable links are automatically created for online visualization.  Moreover, calibrated reflectance panels and sun sensors can be used to produce reflectance maps, with multispectral bands perfectly registered.
“Our software attracts a variety of clients, with a wide range of needs”, said Louis Simard, CTO at SimActive.  “This new version brings advantages to customers having data exploitation requirements such as online viewing, and to users processing imagery from highly sophisticated sensors.”
  • SimActive announces that his Correlator3D™ product is used to map the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Halin in Myanmar. The archaeological project involved the deployment of drones to gather data necessary to prepare orthophoto maps and digital elevation models.

The goal is to find new features as well as to assess the state of the known ones. These include monumental walls, dams and digging canals many of which are still visible in the landscape. The resulting geospatial data also allow to check if modern constructions or farming are not causing any damage.
“Our collaboration with SimActive is allowing us to produce highly accurate maps of an historic site that is more than 2,000 years old” said Kasper Hanus, research fellow at The Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures of the Polish Academy of Sciences.  “The datasets help us understand the past civilizations and safeguard the common heritage of mankind.”
  • SimActive announces that his Correlator3D™ product is used by Dutch company NEO B.V. to assess solar potential in multiple cities.  Digital surface models (DSMs) are generated from WorldView and GeoEye satellite stereo images and serve to calculate solar panel capacity.

DSMs covering hundreds of square kilometres are quickly generated by the software.  Key metrics to estimate solar potential are then derived, including roof orientation, pitch and shaded areas.
“We have been impressed by the quality of SimActive’s DSMs, especially considering the limited spatial resolution of the imagery”, said Rob Beck, Managing Director at NEO B.V. “Another definite advantage of Correlator3D is the simplicity of the workflow, making it easy to use by our team.”
    About NEO B.V.
NEO is an innovative independent Dutch company established in 1996. The focus has always been on the automated production of image-based Calls-to-Action for customers, enabling better decisions and increasing efficiency. NEO operates in markets for information services in agriculture, environment, infrastructure management (pipelines, etc.) and the updating of map-based registrations. Most of our turnover is created in The Netherlands, but NEO works on 4 continents. See www.neo.nl. There is a scoop: NEO is the first company on the planet to assimilate multiple VHR-satellite coverages per year for an entire country (The Netherlands). The imagery is used to detect changes in all buildings, trees, roads, water courses and sometimes smaller objects as solar panels. From the detected spatial changes CtA’s are produced for hundreds of customers.
