  • AEP - A proud partner in Choctaw Nation FAA IPP
    In 2018 & 2019, Public Service Company of Oklahoma collaborated with The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and AiRXOS to conduct two advanced drone operations projects to perform a safe, automated aerial inspection of PSO transmission lines in SE Oklahoma....

  • This effort was part of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) UAS Integration Pilot Program that tested the use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS or drones) for line inspections and for emergency response/storm damage assessment. The first series of tests involved visual observers (VLOS), and the second series incorporated Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) testing.

    This program provides an opportunity for state, local and tribal governments to partner with private sector entities to foster a meaningful dialogue on the balance between local and national interests related to UAS integration and to provide actionable information to the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) on expanded and universal integration of UAS into the National Airspace System. It will also help the USDOT and FAA craft new enabling rules that allow more complex low-altitude UAS operations

    PSO is an operating organization of American Electric Power Company, the largest builder, owner, and operator of transmission lines in the U.S. AEP uses innovative technology to help ensure continued efficiency and reliability of the energy grid, which ultimately benefits customers for PSO and its other operating organizations.

    The team will continue to evaluate the feasibility of extending this testing into other parts of Oklahoma, as well as in the other ten states where American Electric Power operates.

  • Recognizing that the jobs of the future are rooted in a thriving innovation economy, Tulsa Innovation Labs LLC (TIL) was founded to develop a city-wide strategy that positions Tulsa as a tech hub and leader in the future of work.

    Through a diverse coalition of public and private partners, led by George Kaiser Family Foundation (GKFF), TIL is creating economic development programs that seek to make Tulsa the nation’s most inclusive tech community.

  • Oklahoma Spaceport - 1 of 9 in Nation!
    Oklahoma is home to one of only nine spaceports in the nation, and the only one with an FAA-approved spaceflight corridor not in restricted airspace or Military Operation Areas (MOAs)....

  • The Oklahoma Air & Space Port is the controlling agency for the Infinity One Spaceflight Corridor – the first FAA approved corridor in the U.S. National Airspace System (NAS) currently for flight operations not within restricted airspace or Military Operating Areas (MOAs). Our corridor is 152-mile-long and 50-mile-wide. We are the controlling agency for all scheduling and flight operations.

    We have one of the longest and the widest civilian runways in the United States, is ideal for flight testing operations. Our main customers include Boeing, Cessna and Honda Jet, beyond other private companies.

    • RWY 17R/35L: 13,503-foot by 300-foot concrete runway
    • 1,000-foot asphalt overruns on the main runway
    • RWY 17L/35R: 5,193-foot by 75-foot concrete secondary runway

    The newly constructed operations control center is home to our telemetry room (T&M) for monitoring spaceflight launches, flight, re-entry, and other flight and testing operations.

    We have more than 2,000 acres of land available for development. To help with costs, the Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority offers bonding toward the construction of new buildings at Oklahoma Air & Space Port. The facility has a wide variety of potential building sites available, including ideal aviation and industrial land with available utilities for development. Our facility currently has over 100,000 square feet of available hangar space (six commercial aircraft hangars) located near our ramps, taxiways and runways.
