Sentient Vision are delighted to welcome you to our exhibit

Sentient Vision provide autonomous detection solutions for EO and IR video which quickly and reliably find small, hard to see, moving objects on the ground, such as vehicles or people, and objects on the surface of the ocean such as fast boats, rubber rafts, fishing buoys and people in the water. ViDAR is the World’s first Optical Radar, providing wide area maritime search over vastly greater areas than can be covered by existing EO/IR sensors. ViDAR is the first optical detection system capable of detecting a full range of objects over vast areas of the ocean, autonomously, passively and in real time. With over 2600 systems deployed, Sentient’s solutions enhance the performance of EO/IR operations for many agencies and forces worldwide.

 Press Releases

  • 24 September 2020 – Raytheon Australia has announced its team of 10 Australian SMEs to deliver a fully sovereign Australian industry capability to the Army if it is selected to deliver the LAND 129 Phase 3 tactical unmanned aerial system project.

Raytheon Australia’s fully integrated and low-risk solution features an operationally superior rotary wing unmanned aerial system (UAS) that is optimised for future growth as part of the company’s LAND 129 Phase 3 offering.

The company’s 20-year pedigree as a trusted and prime systems integrator, along with a team of SMEs including Schiebel Pacific Ltd and their world-leading CAMCOPTER S-100 UAS, will create a sovereign and sustainable UAS industry to support the Australian Defence Force now and into the future.

Michael Ward, managing director of Raytheon Australia, said this team gives expression to Raytheon Australia’s commitment to fulfil the requirements of LAND 129 Phase 3 in a way that will build a genuine sovereign industrial capability.

The team, which would be led by Raytheon Australia, includes the following companies:

    • Schiebel Pacific Ltd, Nowra
    • Air Affairs Australia, Nowra
    • Innovation Composites, Nowra
    • MMC Ltd, Sydney
    • Calytrix, Perth
    • Penten, Canberra
    • Varley, Newcastle
    • Sentient Vision, Melbourne
    • Rojone, Sydney
    • Thomas Global, Sydney

“Our team brings Raytheon Australia together with more than 10 Australian SMEs and suppliers to deliver a solution for LAND 129 Phase 3 program delivered by Australians for the Australian Defence Force. Raytheon Australia will be working with local suppliers to foster Australian industrial sovereignty, prioritising Defence’s operational needs,” Ward explained.

Raytheon Australia’s solution will provide a superior Australian capability for Army that will enable 150 skilled jobs across the country. The team’s solution also prioritises regional investment and the promotion of manufacturing in Australia, with the S-100 to be assembled, and parts to be sourced and manufactured, in-country.

In a virtual discussion with the LAND 129-3 solution team, all the partners discussed the way such an arrangement benefits the broader defence supply chain, creating job and export opportunities, while delivering on the ADF’s capability requirements.

Ward said, “We will deliver a highly capable, flexible and scalable solution that offers the lowest risk and the greatest opportunity for a sovereign UAS capability for Australia.”

  • SAN DIEGO – 21 July 2020

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA‑ASI), the world’s leading manufacturer of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), announces that the industry team, made up of Australian partner businesses assembled for the development and delivery of MQ-9B SkyGuardian RPAS for Australia, will now be called “Team SkyGuardian Australia” (TSGA). This replaces the previous team name, “Team Reaper Australia.”

GA-ASI announced its intention to offer a Medium-altitude, Long-endurance (MALE) RPAS to the ADF during AVALON 2017 with the launch of Team Reaper Australia. Under Project Air 7003, GA-ASI was selected to provide MQ-9B SkyGuardian for the Armed RPAS capability for the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

Now known as Team SkyGuardian Australia, this group of robust Australian industry partners consists of 10 world-class Australian companies providing a range of innovative sensor, communication, manufacturing and life-cycle support capabilities. The 10 TSGA members – Cobham (TSGA lead industry partner), CAE, Raytheon Australia, Flight Data Systems, TAE Aerospace, Quickstep, Airspeed, Collins Aerospace, Ultra, and Sentient Vision Systems – are well positioned to provide a cohesive approach for meaningful and sustainable Australian industry content.

The change to the Australian industry team name was made in consultation with the ADF to better reflect the RPAS capability that will be delivered.

“GA-ASI is working closely with the ADF and our TSGA partners to deliver a robust Armed RPAS capability to Australia that meets the operational and industry capability requirements,” said Linden Blue, CEO. GA-ASI.

MQ-9B is GA-ASI’s most advanced RPAS. In addition to Australia, the UK Royal Air Force recently announced its MQ-9B production contract through UK Ministry of Defence and the Government of Belgium has approved Belgian Defense to negotiate the acquisition of MQ-9B. There has been significant interest from customers throughout the world.

The MQ-9B SkyGuardian will provide much-needed protection and support to Australian Land Forces, while having considerable potential to expand support into Multi-Domain Operations through GA-ASI’s development of advanced capabilities, including Anti-Submarine Warfare, Electronic Warfare, self-protection and Detect and Avoid systems, along with a range of advanced networking solutions. These roles suit the MQ-9B ideally for ADF future operations envisaged through the recently released 2020 Defence Strategic Update.

  • ViDAR (Visual Detection and Ranging), the world's first Optical Radar, is a wide area optical search system proven to operate up to Sea State 6. ViDAR autonomously finds objects on the surface of the ocean over vastly greater areas than traditional search methods. ViDAR operates optically so it is unaffected by white caps and other effects that impact technology such as radar.

Day and Night, ViDAR is able to detect objects that are very small – much beyond the capability of the human eye – to dramatically extend the coverage of the aircraft in a broad range of search missions including search and rescue, illegal fishing, counter narcotics and maritime security. ViDAR is in use today with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, Royal Australian Navy, US Coast Guard and many other agencies and forces.
