Thursday, October 08, 2020: 1:50 PM - 2:35 PM
Finding the balance between protecting legitimate local interests, securing the safety of the airspace, and encouraging the development of the UAS industry remains among the hardest policy questions facing the industry. Panelists will discuss issues arising at the intersection of federal and state law, including:
- Attempts on the Hill and at the Uniform Law Commission to define “property” as encompassing the airspace;
- Recent developments at the FAA and in litigation, including Singer v. Newton and NPAA v. Texas case, impact the scope of federal preemption;
- How state and local governments can help drive voluntary adoption of Remote ID technologies; and
- Progress of the IPPs on addressing state and local issues.
