Profile
Dr. Gaemus Collins serves as CTO at Planck Aerosystems, leading the technical development of Planck’s commercial and government products, including computer vision, autonomy, and control technologies, which are enabling new intelligent drone behaviors. Dr. Collins’ team developed a patented optical precision landing system that enables drones to operate autonomously from moving vehicles and vessels at sea. Previously, Dr. Collins led the Autonomous Systems Team at Toyon Research Corporation. At Toyon, Dr. Collins led 20+ research programs supporting the Army, Air Force, universities, and commercial customers, developing new drone technologies for surveillance and search, cooperative tracking and swarming, target state estimation, sensor guided flight, and low-SWaP embedded hardware. Dr. Collins has a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Salisbury University, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mathematics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Dr. Collins was also a post-doctorate researcher at the University of California, San Diego, working on DARPA's MICA program. Dr. Collins has 17 years of experience in unmanned systems and 14 related publications.
