Jonathan Daniels is a performance–driven professional unmanned systems (UxS) innovator, consultant, educator and research roboticist. He has been the President of the Nevada AUVSI Chapter since 2016. Mr. Daniels is the only FAA-Designated Airworthiness Representative (DAR-F) for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) in Nevada, serving Function Codes for UAS and OPAs with a GTOW of 12,500lbs and below. Mr. Daniels retired from the Army as a field grade warrant officer in 2012. An internationally recognized industry expert, he is a member-at-large on the Drone Advisory Council Task Group 3 (Part 107 Waivers), the FAA’s UAS Safety Team (UASST), the ANSI Unmanned Aircraft Systems Standardization Collaborative (UASSC) Steering Committee, the ASTM International/National Fire Protection Association Joint Working Group (AC373), and the ASTM Administrative Committee on BVLOS Strategy and Roadmapping (AC478). Mr. Daniels is the Steering Committee Chairman for AUVSI’s Trusted Operator Program ™.
Mr. Daniels is the Membership Secretary for the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Committee and the current Subcommittee Chair for 38.03, Personnel Training, Qualification and Certification. Mr. Daniels is the Technical Group Lead for nine developmental and eight published standards. Mr. Daniels is an industry liaison to SAE Committee for G-34, Applied Artificial Intelligence in Safety-Critical Systems. He is the ASTM liaison to SAE Committee G-34, Artificial Intelligence in Aviation and a member-at-large for S-18, Aircraft & Systems Development and Safety Assessments.
Mr. Daniels is the cofounder of the ANA Avatar XPrize Team Sensum ex Machina, one of 77 selected in January 2020 to continue to the Semifinals. He was the Chief of Staff for the DRC-HUBO Team, UNLV’s competitive humanoid robotic entry that placed eighth in the 2015 DARPA Robotics Challenge. Mr. Daniels has been the Airport Manager for the Searchlight Airpark, Nevada’s first public airport dedicated to UAS, since 2017.
