Profile

Creativity and innovation are the pillars of the unmanned systems’ industry, and few people represent those pillars better than Dr. Marc Raibert, the founder and chairman of Boston Dynamics, which is known for its advanced robots such as the BigDog, Atlas, Spot and Handle. Equipped with dynamic behavior that allows them to be effective and versatile in the real world, the robots are inspired by the remarkable ability of animals to move with agility, dexterity, perception and intelligence. Before launching Boston Dynamics, Dr. Raibert was Professor of Computer Science and Robotics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Carnegie Mellon (CMU). During his time at MIT and CMU, Dr. Raibert founded the Leg Laboratory, a lab that helped establish the scientific basis for highly dynamic robots, and ultimately laid the groundwork for the innovation coming out of Boston Dynamics.
