Dr. Iryna Borshchova is a Research Officer at the National Research Council of Canada. specializing in Detect, Alert, and Avoid (DAA). Being a member of RTCA SC-228 WG1 (Special Committee on MOPS for Unmanned Aircraft, Detect and Avoid) and ASTM Collaboration Area WK62668 (Detect and Avoid Performance Requirements), Dr. Borshchova currently works proactively towards the challenges that manufacturers and operators need to have addressed, in order to realize the broader economic benefits of Unmanned Aircraft. Dr. Borshchova is presently engaged in the development and evaluation of a vision-based DAA system PICAS (Passive Intelligent Collision Avoidance Sensor). Her research interests include ground-based and airborne DAA solutions, collision avoidance algorithms, and regulatory challenges.
