Chris currently resides on the west central coast of Florida and is the Battalion Chief of Special Operations with Southern Manatee Fire Rescue and serves Hazardous Materials Response Team Leader. He started his professional career in 1992 as a firefighter with Southern Manatee Fire Rescue and moved into Special Operations in 1996 specializing in hazardous materials response. Chief Gould is a member of the Tampabay Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) and is an active member of the Training Sub Committee. He is a Florida Certified: Hazardous Materials Technician, Arson Investigator, Instructor, Fire Inspector II, Paramedic, Firefighter and regularly instructs various hazardous materials and drone related classes. He holds an Associate of Arts degree in Business Management and an Associate of Science Degree in Fire Science and is an Instructor at Florida’s Annual Hazardous Material Symposium. Drawing from it's experience with using drones during large scale real life hazardous materials incidents and paired with the world’s largest civilian drone manufacturer he and his team have been conducting hands on testing of equipment and development of new innovative techniques to utilize drones during a hazardous materials incident. He and his team are working to provide the fire service with a cost effective tool and practices that will reduce responder risk and provide incident commanders with rapid accurate and actionable information to base decisions upon.
