We also build hydrogen fuel cell power generators which only produce water. Hydrogen is an ideal power for unmanned systems, due to its superior power density, 570wh/kg on our multi-rotor and 850wh/kg on fix wing. Fuel cell multi-rotor drone, HydroCoptor-4, can fly 4.5 hrs. The secret behind it, is the 3X higher power density than lithium battery. We work with partners worldwide to build PEM solutions for their applications.   • Hydrogen Craft Corporation, the Deqing, China based company founded by a prior Dominion Resource Inc. employee live in Virginia, Haili Liu, is making their first presence on international stage to introduce Hercules series hydrogen PEM fuel cells to global UAV and UAS makers.

    The company is demonstrating their latest ACFC-48-1700 light weighted fuel cell stacks and the fuel cell drone it applied on, HydroCopter-4. HydroCopter-4 can fly up to 4.5 hours in the air, significantly longer than the lithium batteries can do. The 800wh/kg fuel cell system power density is the key factor of it. In comparison, most lithium batteries on multi-rotor drones can only work at 180wh/kg.

    The breakthrough in power density will dramatically increase the endurance of UAV and other UAS applications. It is also possible to power UAM vehicles in the future. Most lithium powered UAM protos fly less than half an hour. The company is developing a 140kg MTOW scaled proto, to demonstrate that their fuel cell system which can support such a multi-rotor UAM for 1.5 hours. The proto will be tested at the end of October 2020. Video will be released on AUVSI XPO and Youtube.com.

    Varied from other fuel cells makers, Hydrogen Craft do not seek to provide a “Battery Pack” type of solution, where fuel cells, hydrogen tanks and BMS are integrated into on hull as a complete product. Hydrogen Craft believes that fuel cell systems design should be integrated into the aircraft design to save weight, optimize environment control, and gain more power density advantage. It also has a proprietary DFC (Distributed Fuel Cells) technology which allows small fuel cells to be installed in every corner of an aircraft to serve as a large power source. The 140kg UAM proto will be powered by this DFC and DEP (Distributed Electrical Propulsion) technology.

    Although this is the first global presence of this start up, they have worked 3 years since 2017 to earn their reputation as a spearhead company in China in the hydrogen aviation industry. They have accepted 3 rounds of angel fund financing of 6 million USD in total.

    According to company's strategic plan, it will work with global partners to promote its fuel cell power solutions for UAS, provide fuel cell stacks, power management systems and integration services to global clients.

  • HydroCoptor-04 Multi-rotor Drone
    This is a fuel cell powered long endurance multi-rotor drone that can fly max 4.5 hrs, or carrying max 9kg payload. It is an ideal platform for many applications, such as search and rescue, emergency lighting, forest management, and fire protection....

  • Hydrocopter-04 adopts Distributed Fuel Cells (DFC) technology, which allows two 1.7kw fuel cell to provide 3.4kw total rated power. Smaller fuel cells have higher system reliability and efficiency.

    With an improved power density close to 700w/kg, this 29kg MTOW drone can carry 9kg maximum payload, or 31% maximum payload ratio. It also adds more flexibility between payload and endurance by choosing various sizes of hydrogen tanks. With 36L 35MPa tanks configuration, it achieved a maximum endurance of 4.5 hours.

  • Services

    Got an idea to test your application with hydrogen fuel cells?  We provide following services to global wide customers and partners.

    Engineering Service

         1. Free preliminary hydrogen power consultations service.

    This is a free service that mainly consists of an information gathering session from potential client. After signing an NDA we will listen to your need and give you a preliminary study based on the information we collected. We will give you recommendation on the parameters of fuel cell systems and the expected come out of it.

    2. Engineering design with hydrogen fuel cells on your application.

    If you are satisfied with our recommendation, we can provide 3D models of the system we recommended or even help you with the structural design/alteration and power management system design.

    Hydrogen fuel cell system normally take a larger space than lithium. It is always the more efficient to consider it with the entire structure of your application. We have to consider environment, safety , weight and many other factors. We will share our integration experiences with our client and work as a team.

    3. Hands on training and implementation sessions at client’s site.

    When it comes to implementation stage, we will send our engineers and experts to your site to get the work done. We also provide hydrogen related training services in this stage. There are always some small odds come up. No worries, we are on your side.

    4. Custom design of fuel cell systems.

    If you have an application beyond the regular power rate and environment we have in the stock. We are willing to design and build it to your need. Please let us know how we can help.
