Ms. Fretwell is Senior VP for Switch leading corporate Switch CITIES efforts. In this role, Ms. Fretwell uses her extensive city management experience, government knowledge & community relationships to develop strategic partnerships with our community partners & clients. She leads efforts in the deployment of new technologies including autonomous systems, IoT, robotics & big data for digital community initiatives & spearheads innovative public-private partnerships in communities across the country. Using a strong knowledge of emerging technologies, connected infrastructure, & public sector data needs, she plays an essential role in business development, government affairs, research & development, renewable energy services, & corporate expansion & development. Ms. Fretwell is the principal investigator for Switch's contract with the Federal Aviation Administration to further develop the UTM system supporting commercial drone flights safe integration into the NAS.
Ms. Fretwell has 27 years of public service in Southern Nevada serving Clark County, City of Henderson & City of Las Vegas in various positions. Her public sector career culminated with serving nearly 9 years as Las Vegas City Manager. While serving as City Manager, she navigated the 2008 Great Recession with adept skill by eliminating a 5-yr structural shortfall ($400M) for the $1.3B, 3300 FTE organization; led the City’s emergence as a tech disruptor, establishing the innovation district & hosting the first autonomous shuttle on public roadways; established an investment bank to manage $80M of new market tax credits; attained 100% renewable energy sustainability for municipal power load; ushered in a $700M capital improvement program, building state of the art performing arts, museum & city hall facilities; attained 100 score on the Human Rights Campaign equality index; attracted the first Fortune 100 company headquarters downtown; & improved City & Redevelopment Agency bond ratings.
