Taking Control of the Drone Threat in the Most Sensitive Scenarios

  • Room: Booth 3558

Description

This session will present concepts and solutions for different approaches to the emerging threat of rogue drones in sensitive and challenging environments:

  • Why conventional solutions struggle in sensitive scenarios
  • Counter-drone core concepts for continuity
  • The rogue drone incident lifecycle
  • Operational deployments – stationary, tactical and vehicular

Traditional c-UAS technologies – based on radar for detection and jamming and/or kinetic mitigation – certainly achieved an impressive record of success. They will continue to play a role in multi-layered defense strategies, but these methods also have drawbacks that render them less suitable for sensitive and challenging environments. There is a high risk of false positives, collateral damage, interference and disturbance to communications, commerce, transportation and the continuity of everyday life.

This session will present ideas to address emerging drone threats, while also overcoming the problems associated with traditional C-sUAS technologies. Emerging drone challenges require different counter-drone solutions, with innovative approaches based on key counter-drone concepts:

  • Control: controlling the drone threat and ensuring continuity
  • Safety: prioritizing safe airspace
  • Focus: concentrating on the real risk, the most dangerous drones
  • Future: foreseeing the constantly changing and complex drone threat

This session will cover approaches to safely neutralize the most dangerous drone threats of today and tomorrow. The goal is the safest possible outcome of a rogue drone incident, in any environment or scenario.
