Description

Communications capabilities are evolving to benefit UAS operations across multiple markets, but very few are providing moonshot improvements at their intersection with enterprise user groups. Satellite technologies, specifically Low Earth Orbit (LEO) networks, are providing unmatched resilience, connectedness, and low latency towards the implementation and use of autonomous systems. While existing datalinks are limited and unreliable for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations, LEO networks can offer UAVs a means of safely and reliably operating from BVLOS even in urban or mission critical environments. Enabling BVLOS is essential for UAV manufacturers and operators to capitalize on and meet the significant demand for UAVs that can replace the role of traditional manned aircraft. This will ensure the inevitable requirement for regulatory authorities to consider the safest and most reliable options for BVLOS operators and Command and Control datalinks. This will propel the need for UAV avionics to be built to the same rigor and standards as manned aircraft avionics. These factors can lead to a rapid advancement in systems and technologies by freeing up working capital for government lobbying, infrastructure improvements, and more.
