Description

North Dakota produces 30 million barrels of oil a month, has over 15,000 wells in active production, and has more than 65,000 miles of transmission lines. Those numbers demonstrate that North Dakota provides 1% of the world’s oil – a significant number when considering the size and population of the state. Oil, gas, and energy are fundamental to North Dakota's economy. For decades, UAS has promised to revolutionize the oil, gas, and energy industries. But that revolution is not happening – why? North Dakota knows the answer – lack of shared infrastructure. When each industry, and each business implementing UAS technology must also install, manage, and maintain the supporting UAS infrastructure, the cost to UAS commercialization is too great, and UAS is left in the pursuit for other cost saving measures.

North Dakota is building the answer. Vantis is North Dakota’s advanced UAS infrastructure initiative. By providing shared infrastructure of UAS communication and airspace surveillance, Vantis will enable advanced UAS operations, including BVLOS. The infrastructure will support UAS operators, operations, and the industries benefiting from UAS technologies.

This panel will discuss how North Dakota is revolutionizing oil, gas, and energy industries by enabling advanced UAS operations that haven't been possible.
