Movella | Xsens: superior positioning, orientation, anywhere

Our ability to help businesses run more safely and efficiently is positively impacting people across the globe in everything from autonomous vehicles systems to complex manufacturing tasks.

Press Releases

  • San Jose, California, April 25, 2022 - Movella™, a global innovator of advanced technologies and products that sense, capture, and analyze movement, is displaying some of its latest inertial sensor technology solutions at the AUVSI XPONENTIAL, the international trade show for uncrewed systems, robotics and autonomy taking place from April 25 to April 28 of 2022 at Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

This year's show is expected to draw over 18,000 visitors and more than 600 exhibitors. The Movella team will be on hand to demonstrate how their Xsens sensor module product line can be used for various industrial applications.

Exhibiting at booth 2264, the company plans a surprise demo to show how Xsens MTi Vertical Reference Unit (VRU) overcomes the magnetic field disturbances created by the environment, like metal or magnetic objects inside a warehouse. The heading of an MTi with VRU functionality is unreferenced, which means 'relative angles' are computed without any geographic or magnetic reference. The MTi VRUs also support the Active Heading Stabilization (AHS) feature, which provides low-drift unreferenced yaw and therefore provides accurate data to achieve indoor positioning with reliable heading.

Movella has dedicated tremendous efforts in innovation to help businesses run more safely and efficiently, positively impacting people across the globe in everything from autonomous vehicles systems to complex manufacturing tasks.

"We are excited to attend XPONENTIAL 2022 so we can meet with our partners and customers to learn more about their challenges and concerns around automation & mobility applications', said Peter Xie, VP Business Unit Director Automation & Mobility at Movella. "We are also looking forward to showcasing our Xsens MTi VRU functionality and its possibilities."

We invite customers, partners, journalists and prospects to meet us at the tradeshow. You can schedule a meeting with Movella via sales@movella.com.

Products

  • MTi-2 VRU
The Xsens MTi 2 is the smallest MEMS based VRU in the market today. It provides fully calibrated 3D calibrated inertial data as well as full roll and pitch information. ROS drivers and NVIDIA support available.
...

  • The MTi-2 is a self-contained Vertical Reference Unit (VRU). Its sensors provide calibrated inertial data on the 3D rate of turn, 3D acceleration and 3D magnetic field, while an added sensor fusion algorithm computes 3D orientation data on the basis of a gravity-reference frame: drift-free roll, pitch, and accurate, unreferenced yaw.

As a member of the MTi 1-series, the MTi-2 stands out for its small form factor (12.1mm x 12.1mm), easy integration, low cost and robustness – as well as its strapdown integration algorithm. Suitable for a wide range of (embedded) applications, the MTi-2 relieves you of the effort of integrating and maintaining gyroscopes, accelerometers and other sensors as well as of having to design an all-in-one VRU solution.
ROS drivers and NVIDIA support is available.
  • MTi-8 RTK GNSS/INS
The Xsens MTi-8 is the latest addition to the MTi 1-series product line. Using data from an RTK enabled GNSS receiver to provide 100Hz cm-level accurate positioning, as well as dead reckoning, position smoothing. ROS drivers and NVIDIA support available.
...

  • The MTi-8 is a cm-level GNSS/INS as a 12.1 x 12.1 mm module with an interface to an external GNSS receiver. The Xsens optimized strapdown algorithm (AttitudeEngineTM) performs high-speed dead-reckoning calculations at 1 kHz allowing accurate capture of high frequency motions. Xsens’ industry-leading sensor fusion algorithm provides high accuracy and sensor auto-calibration in a cost-effective module for a wide range of (embedded) applications. It relieves users from the design, integration and maintenance of gyroscopes, accelerometers and other sensors. The MTi-8 is supported by the MT Software Suite which includes MT Manager (GUI for Windows/Linux), SDK, example codes and drivers for many platforms (eg. ROS and NVIDIA).
  • MTi-620 VRU
Xsens MTi-620, part of the MTi 600-series product line is available in rugged (MTI-620R) and module (MTi-620) form factor. It provides full 3D calibrated data as well as 3D orientation without using the magnetic field as a reference. ROS drivers available
...

  • The MTi-620 is the highest standard in Vertical Reference Units (VRUs). Its sensors and sensor fusion algorithm measure roll, pitch, and (unreferenced) yaw. As a part of the MTi 600-series, this module is lightweight and robust as well as cost-effective and easy to integrate. You can seamlessly integrate the MTi-620 in your application in two ways: either with the header facing down, directly mounted on a PCB, or as a standalone, with a flat cable for communication. It is also highly flexible, with native CAN support. The MTi-620 VRU comes as an industrial-grade, highly affordable MEMS-based orientation sensor with an integrated sensor fusion algorithm and an easy-to-use Development Kit.

ROS drivers and NVIDIA support is available.

  • MTi-680 RTK GNSS/INS
The MTi-680 is part of the MTi 600-series product line. It is a flexible module with an interface to an external RTK receiver. It is able to output cm-level PVT data and full 3D inertial and orientation data. ROS drivers available....

  • The MTi-680 represents the highest standard in GNSS/INS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems/Inertial Navigation Systems) when connected to an external Real-Time Kinematic GNSS receiver (RTK).
The MTi-680 supports RTK accuracy, which means you get access to smooth high frequency (400Hz) centimeter-level accuracy in position even in GNSS-denied environments. As a part of the MTi 600-series, this module is lightweight, robust and cost-effective.
You can seamlessly integrate the MTi-680 in your application with the header facing down, directly mounted on a PCB, or as a standalone unit, with a flat cable for communication. It is also highly flexible, with native CAN support. The MTi-680 RTK GNSS/INS comes as an industrial-grade, highly affordable MEMS-based orientation sensor with an integrated sensor fusion algorithm and an easy-to-use Development Kit.

ROS drivers and NVIDIA support is available.

  • MTi-680G RTK GNSS/INS
The MTi-680G is part of the MTi 600-series product line. It is a rugged, fully integrated RTK enabled GNSS/INS. It is able to output cm-level PVT data as well as full 3D inertial and orientation data. ROS drivers and NVIDIA support available....
