XPONENTIAL 2023 Call for Presentations Now Open

As a community, we are moving beyond the vision-setting phase for autonomy and are drawing up a blueprint to fully operationalize and integrate these systems. And while a collective focus on the same grand design is critical, how we work together will determine how smoothly and quickly we achieve full integration and realize the potential of our industry.

That blueprint for autonomy is already being drafted. It includes considerations for design, operationalization, integration, and safeguarding. Its material needs consist of policy and regulations, public engagement, safety and security, data management, testing and certification, among others. So just as an architect’s two-dimensional design becomes a three-dimensional reality, we ask that you help our community identify new perspectives, avoid potential incongruities, and keep apace in pursuit of our shared goal.

Our industry will only go as far as you will take it, so lend your vision, experience, research, and successes to shape the future. Review the call for presentations and submit your proposal by September 30, 2022.

AUVSI Announces Partnership with Messe Dusseldorf North America to Co-Host XPONENTIAL

This morning, the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) announced a partnership with Messe Düsseldorf North America Inc. (MDNA) to co-host the world’s leading trade show for uncrewed systems, XPONENTIAL.

MDNA is a subsidiary of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, one of the world’s largest organizers of international trade shows, and through this partnership XPONENTIAL will broaden its reach to user communities and new market entrants.

As the world’s largest trade association dedicated to the advancement of uncrewed systems and autonomy, AUVSI looks forward to collaborating with MDNA to deliver a more robust and thoughtful conference and trade show experience for attendees. The partnership will take full effect for XPONENTIAL 2023 and onward.

Scam Alert: Fake Conference Attendee Lists and Hotel Reservations

AUVSI warns of impostors, strongly advises dealing only with AUVSI and its Official Vendors directly for attendee lists and hotel reservations.

AUVSI is proud to serve the uncrewed systems community by providing exceptional content and quality events. AUVSI manages every detail of these events in-house and provides exhibitors and attendees with all the information they need to register and attend.

It has come to our attention that third-party companies have contacted some of our exhibitors and attendees, offering access to attendee lists. We want all exhibitors and attendees to know that AUVSI’s only authorized marketing partner is Worldata. More information is available in our 2022 Media Kit. AUVSI does not authorize any other organization to offer attendee information.

Some of these third-party companies also have offered hotel room booking services. Please know that any activity by any third-party company offering these services is not authorized, sanctioned, or approved by AUVSI. AUVSI’s exclusive provider of XPONENTIAL housing is onPeak.

We encourage all of our attendees and exhibitors to visit our website, www.xponential.org, for access to all the information needed to register and attend our event. From here you can find all the details you need to know about registering and making hotel reservations. If any questions still remain, contact AUVSI directly at meetings@auvsi.org.

AUVSI values its exhibitors and attendees, and works hard to stage the highest-quality, most informative events in uncrewed systems. Always deal directly with AUVSI or its Official Vendor representatives.

Epistemix Partners with AUVSI on Safety for AUVSI XPONENTIAL

Latest COVID modeling shows AUVSI XPONENTIAL mitigation strategies ensure safe, controlled environment for guests

Epistemix, a computational modeling software company that develops simulations to model the spread of diseases and inform policy, today released updated data that projects the risk of COVID transmission during the April 25-28, 2022 AUVSI XPONENTIAL in Orlando, FL at a rate of less than 0.1% of its 8,900-person conference.

“Creating a controlled environment is crucial for conferences like AUVSI XPONENTIAL,” says Dr. Lindsey Reiser, Managing Director of Professional Services, Epistemix. “The robust program of safety measures that AUVSI will have in place means a reduction in transmissibility by 2X compared to other typical activities in Orlando public spaces.”

Partnering in February 2022, Epistemix and AUVSI are working together to develop appropriate mitigation strategies to improve and ensure the safety of all XPONENTIAL attendees.

Projections show:

  • The city of Orlando is currently at the end of a peak in cases due to the Omicron variant.
  • Epistemix model forecasts cases to be at a minimum in Orlando in April when daily cases are projected to be around 200 per day.
  • The Epistemix model forecasts that without interventions, the infection rate at AUVSI XPONENTIAL is below the CDC threshold of 2 daily cases per 10,000.
  • Epistemix projects the risk of infection for 9,000 is less than 0.1% of attendees.
  • Epistemix data has proven to be 95% accurate when forecasting for past events.

“Following on a safe and successful XPONENTIAL 2021 in Atlanta last August, our team has remained diligent in preparations for this year’s event,” says Heather Lee, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for AUVSI. “That work has focused on designing an event that meets the expectations of our attendees while maintaining their health and safety, and our with Epistemix has provided the data and modeling to help us confidently develop policies and protocols to protect our guests and staff.”

AUVSI will continue to work with Epistemix to provide regular updates and forecasts for attendees and exhibitors for future events.

About Epistemix — Epistemix empowers leaders to make better decisions by simulating how diseases, ideas, and behavior spread through communities. We leverage decades of epidemiological experience, diverse datasets, and scientific best-practice to build computational models that forecast the health impacts of policy interventions so that organizations can take informed action. We are currently working with companies, event organizers, school districts, and state governments across the United States to evaluate opening strategies and gauge COVID-19 response. STATEMENT ON EVENT LOCATION

For 50 years, AUVSI has been the leader in advocating for the uncrewed systems and robotics industry. Our member organizations are diverse, and we understand that technology and innovation thrive best when a wide variety of viewpoints and backgrounds are involved in its development. This is exactly why we forged AUVSI’s DE&I Advisory Group to foster an environment where the contributions of all voices are valued no matter their race, nationality, gender or expression, sexual orientation, physical ability, or other protected status. Learn more about those efforts here.

We understand why questions may arise when a location where we’ve scheduled an event becomes ground zero for fierce political debates; however, there are a few realities AUVSI faces when hosting the largest uncrewed systems and robotics convention in the country:

SIZE — XPONENTIAL is the biggest trade show in our industry. The exhibition footprint, meeting space, and hotel rooms needed to accommodate the show and its attendees limit the locations where it can be held. Currently, there are only 18 cities where we can safely and adequately host the event.

ACCESS — Given the limited number of locations we can utilize, and precisely because we want to ensure diversity, equity, and access to XPONENTIAL, we intentionally rotate host cities depending on availability of hotels, convention space, and access to transportation hubs like international airports.

SCHEDULE — The team that assesses these criteria and confirms site selection does so years in advance of each event. So, it’s not possible to predict what the political climate might be in any given city, that far into the future. Given the complex logistics involved, it’s not feasible to relocate an event that has been years in the making just a few weeks in advance.

We hope this helps clarify why XPONENTIAL will continue to take place in Orlando this year, while AUVSI remains committed to inclusivity as one of its ongoing core values. If you have additional questions or feedback, please contact engage@auvsi.org.
