Sparrowhawk™ is a ground-based radar system
that provides effective small aircraft detection
and actionable situational awareness for land and
marine operations. It is a small-form all-weather
system, that supports mobile or fixed installations,
and tracks a 1m2 radar cross section (RCS) to 8
nautical miles and up to 6,000 feet above ground
level (AGL).
Approved by Transport Canada as a DAA for
commercial beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS)
in ARC-B and ARC-C in Canada. Sparrowhawk
provides critical data for airspace classification,
and UAS traffic management, and can be
networked to increase operational coverage to
support longer range BVLOS missions.
Sparrowhawk is the first operational DAA
of its kind in Canada and supported the
first commercial BVLOS UAV operation in
uncontrolled airspace. It has successfully
tracked over 50,000 aircraft in an
operational setting.
Custom radar modeling aids mission
deployment site selection and approvals from
the national aviation authority, expediting the
process to become operational.
