XPONENTIAL Health + Safety Plan

Promoting a safe and healthy experience for AUVSI XPONENTIAL attendees and exhibitors.

AUVSI is closely following the ongoing public health situation. We are excited to see everyone at AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2022, scheduled for April 25-28 in Orlando.

The safety of our guests is important to us, and we ask attendees to follow and respect our Health + Safety Tips.

• Get Vaccinated! The CDC recommends vaccination and AUVSI encourages all attendees to get vaccinated prior to attending XPONENTIAL.
• Those experiencing symptoms or have been recently diagnosed with COVID-19 should not engage in AUVSI events.
• Respect and practice social distancing when possible and avoid greeting others with physical contact.
• Mask up! Masks are encouraged in busy indoor spaces and will be available at AUVSI’s registration desk.
• Wash your hands frequently and use hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer stations will be placed throughout the convention center.

Epistemix Partners with AUVSI on Attendee Safety

Epistemix, a computational modeling software company that develops simulations to model the spread of diseases and inform policy, today released updated data that projects the risk of COVID transmission during the April 25-28, 2022 AUVSI XPONENTIAL in Orlando, FL at a rate of less than 0.1% of its 8,900-person conference.

Partnering in February 2022, Epistemix and AUVSI are working together to develop appropriate mitigation strategies to improve and ensure the safety of all XPONENTIAL attendees. Read more about this partnership.

Projections show:

• The city of Orlando is currently at the end of a peak in cases due to the Omicron variant.
• Epistemix model forecasts cases to be at a minimum in Orlando in April when daily cases are projected to be around 200 per day.
• The Epistemix model forecasts that without interventions, the infection rate at AUVSI XPONENTIAL is below the CDC threshold of 2 daily cases per 10,000.
• Epistemix projects the risk of infection for 9,000 is less than 0.1% of attendees.
• Epistemix data has proven to be 95% accurate when forecasting for past events.

Orange County Convention Center Health + Safety

The Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) is continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation through updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Florida Department of Public Health, along with Orange County Government officials. The OCCC is adhering to guidelines from the CDC and continues to urge people to take health precautions including washing hands regularly and observing physical distancing.

Sanitation Measures.

As a Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC) STAR™ accredited venue, the OCCC has a disinfectant procedure in place for cleanings which adhere to the CDC and WHO guidance. Recognized as the gold standard of safe venues, the OCCC is one of the largest venues in the nation to receive the GBAC STAR™ accreditation. As a division of the International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA), GBAC STAR™ is an industry accreditation that provides third-party validation to ensure the implementation of rigorous protocols in response to biorisk situations. Focused on ensuring a clean, safe, and healthy environment, the program establishes requirements to assist venues by providing best practices, protocols, and procedures to control risks associated with the COVID-19 virus.

The OCCC also has an increased number of hand sanitation sites available throughout the surrounding campus, providing alcohol-based hand sanitizer for all attendees and staff. Other precautionary measures include enhancing onsite communications and signage regarding CDC recommendations, increasing the frequency of cleaning, and disinfecting bathrooms and commonly touched objects like hand railings, door handles and ongoing training for OCCC staff and partners for best practices on providing a safe and healthy environment.

Networking/Food Functions

• All servers will wear gloves and masks.
• Where available, distance barriers or guards will be used.
• Where applicable, pre-packaged catering functions and menu items/sealed beverages may be obtained from stations without the requirement of an attendant.
• Reusable cups/tumblers and personal water bottles are discouraged.

Medical and Emergency Protocol

• The exclusive medical provider for XPONENTIAL, Event Medical Services, will provide extra medical support as needed onsite to ensure attendees have a safe and healthy event.
• A standard First Aid room will be available onsite.

Travel

• Attendees should not travel to XPONENTIAL 2022 if they are not feeling well. Attendees should monitor the CDC travel guidelines prior to their departure.
• Orlando International Airport (MCO) is complying with travel restrictions signed by the US Government.

Research has shown that there is very little risk of any communicable disease being transmitted on board an aircraft. Did you know that the quality of aircraft cabin air is carefully controlled? Ventilation rates provide a total change of air 20-30 times per hour. Most modern aircrafts have recirculation systems, which recycle up to 50% of cabin air. The recirculated air is usually passed through HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filters, of the type used in hospital operating rooms and intensive care units, which trap dust particles, bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
