Description

Autonomy is an ideal Use Case for leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML). With minimal AI/ML, the autonomy is basic and often brittle, while adding more provides more intelligent and resilient autonomy. This Workshop will spell out the many facets of an autonomous system across the spectrum of sensing, understanding, decision-making, executing behaviors and interacting with humans and other autonomous systems and machines. It will then introduce various categories and types of AI/ML and discuss how each matches up with those autonomy facets.

Participants will learn what makes something autonomous along with insights into the benefits and challenges of introducing autonomous capabilities. The primary takeaway is an increased understanding of the role of AI/ML, and the implications of using it, on the design, implementation, and deployment of an “intelligent” autonomous system. Benefits include learning some of the lingo and acronyms, understanding the touchpoints with people and other parts of the system/vehicle and appreciating what is required to operationalize an intelligent autonomous system.

The Workshop will be interactive with opportunities to explore how the content relates to participants’ real-world aspirations and works in progress.
