Description

This Session is part of a larger Workshop:

Navigating Autonomy: Addressing External Factors in Advanced Air Mobility, XPO24-WK0606

There is a giant hurdle that, if not addressed, will be detrimental to the future of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). How we address this challenge will make or break the development and adoption of AAM systems. This mighty force is weather.

Taking into account low-altitude weather data voids, urban canyons, icing, and the overall dynamic and chaotic nature of weather–it’s a big issue. In this session, we’ll cover the main challenges and discuss what are the critical requirements to prepare for safe and predictable travel in the future airspace. To do this we will go over policy and regulations with the help of the OUSD, DoD, FAA, and NASA.

This panel will also provide an opportunity for audience members to ask questions directly to the leaders who are shaping future weather requirements for AAM, UAS, and aerial autonomous vehicles.  Join AFWERX, NASA, and others leading the way in integrating weather into emerging aviation technologies and autonomy.
