Description

Japan faces a unique combination of sophisticated yet aging infrastructure, the expectation of a deep and efficient logistics network, an impending labor shortage, and disaster-prone geography. Maintaining the highly civilized daily lifestyle that Japanese citizens have grown accustomed to in the face of growing challenges almost necessitates an unmanned industrial revolution in Japan. The Japanese government has been proactive in its recognition of this situation and has helped to create economic conditions that favor innovations in unmanned systems, and the Japanese industry has risen to the challenge. This talk will present in detail, how the unique conditions in Japan make the adoption of unmanned systems for a variety of applications, including inspection, disaster response, logistics, and agriculture, exceptionally favorable, and what the Japanese government is doing to accelerate the development of an industry to support these applications and some of the unique solutions that are currently emerging from that industry.
